Benjamin A. “Ben” Boyd, 85, of Fair Haven, was born on December 9, 1931 in Fair Haven where he was a lifelong resident. Ben attended and graduated from Fisk Street School and Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School. He was a veteran of the Korean War and was honorably discharged from the United States Army.
Ben had a love of trucks. He drove a cement truck for Duncan Thacker Associates, later Clayton Cemetery Company and later Weldon Cement Company retiring in 1998. Ben loved sports and loved to talk about sports. Ben loved traveling and made several trips to the Caribbean visiting several countries and also traveled to France. Ben had a life long love of jazz and was a supporter of WGBO.
Ben was predeceased by his mother, Teresa Boyd; his father, Roland Boyd; his brother, Clifton Boyd; and his niece, Stacey Burgess. Ben is survived by his brother, Roland Boyd; and sisters, Mabel Cureton, Gloria Boyd and Patricia Burgess. Ben is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, cousins and a multitude of friends.
