Bartholomew F. Boyle “Bart,” 89, of Oceanport, died peacefully on Saturday, July 9 at home. Born in Bayonne, he had lived in Oceanport since 1960. Bart was a physical education teacher for Raritan High School in Hazlet before retiring in 1983. He coached varsity wrestling and the boys and girls varsity soccer teams. In 1982, he won the State Championship with the Boys’ Varsity Soccer Team and was named Coach of the Year by the Newark Star Ledger. Bart also worked for the Teamsters’ Union 469 at Monmouth Park Racetrack for 39 years.

He was a member of the Long Branch Old Guard, The Oceanport Seniors and a 50-year member of the Port-Au-Peck Chemical Hose Company in Oceanport. Bart was a parishioner of the Church of the Precious Blood in Monmouth Beach and served his country honorably in the US Army and the Marine Reserves.

He was predeceased by his parents, Patrick and Gertrude Boyle; his sister, Marie Boyle Hoffman; and his brother, Patrick Edward Boyle. Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Kathryn Haran Boyle; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kathleen and Rocco Yamello and Ellen and Anthony Anfuso; two grandchildren, Kevin Anfuso and Shannon Anfuso; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
