Karen A. Brooks, 79 of Colts Neck, passed away May 22 at Silver Care Center in Cherry Hill.

Mrs. Brooks was born in Newark. In 1960 she graduated from College of Elizabeth in Morristown with a degree in biology. In 1962, Mrs. Brooks married to her now late husband, Edward George Brooks.

She had many interests such as needlework, sailing and boating, mahjong, gardening, reading, and traveling. She was a dedicated conservationist and was active in many organizations: Embroiderers Guild of America Monmouth County NJ Chapter, Master Gardener with Rutgers – Middlesex County Extension, member of Church of St. Catharine, Holmdel, member of United States Power Squadron and Monmouth County Parks member.

She is predeceased by her husband, Edward George Brooks; her father Jack O’Sullivan; and her mother, Margaret “Peg” O’Sullivan (neé Scherrer).

Mrs. Brooks is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Donna and David Brandt; and her grandchildren, Gregory W. Brandt and Corinne A. Brandt.

Visitation was May 31 at Holmdel Funeral Home, Holmdel. A Mass of Christian Burial took place June 1 at the Church of St. Catharine, Holmdel. Interment followed at Holmdel Cemetery.
