FAIR HAVEN— Police arrested a Rumson man and charged with an assortment of offenses arising from an alleged daytime burglary on Monday.
Police arrested David Wilt, 20, at his Evergreen Drive, Rumson home on Monday afternoon charging him with burglary, theft, possession of a controlled dangerous substance, forgery and receiving stolen property, according to Fair Haven Detective Sergeant Jessie Dykstra.
Wilt, Dykstra charged, had entered the Hance Avenue home of a medical doctor when he was confronted by someone in the home and made his escape.
Wilt allegedly fled the scene in his truck, colliding with a vehicle parked in the residence’s driveway making his way home. The witness had called police giving them a description of Wilt, his vehicle and the license plate number, Dykstra said.
When police arrived at Wilt’s home at approximately 3:30 p.m., Wilt was allegedly in possession of prescription medication and a prescription pad, the detective said.
Along with the criminal offenses, police issued Wilt motor vehicle summons for leaving the scene of an accident, according to Dykstra.
Wilt was released on $7,500 bail, police said.
