New HerSpace Breast Imaging Center to Open

EATONTOWN – Dr. Beth Deutch, founder and medical director of HerSpace Breast Imaging Associates, will celebrate on Tuesday, Oct. 4, the opening of her new facility at 300 Highway 35 South.
A nationally renowned and published breast imager, for the last 20 years, Deutch has focused her skills and radiology training exclusively on breast imaging. She has interpreted more than 200,000 mammograms and performed thousands of image-guided needle biopsies. Her list of more than 300 referring physicians is testimony to her stature among the medical community as the area’s leading breast imager.
HerSpace Breast Imaging Associates, founded in 2002, is dedicated to putting women at ease while pursuing the clinical objective of detecting and diagnosing breast cancer at its earliest, most curable stage. HerSpace is Deutch’s vision for the way breast imaging services should be experienced by every woman: A relaxing, warm environment offering the latest techniques and diagnostic tools with compassionate care in a timely diagnosis.
Deutch is a pioneer in breast imaging technology, welcoming to the new HerSpace, one of the first 3D digital tomosynthesis units in Monmouth and Ocean counties.
Digital tomosynthesis is a new technology for breast cancer detection. It takes multiple X-ray pictures of each breast from many angles. The breast is positioned the same way as with a conventional mammogram, but only a little pressure is applied – just enough to keep the breast in a stable position during the procedure. The X-ray tube moves in an arc around the breast while 11 images are taken during a 7-second examination. Then the information is sent to a computer, where it is assembled to produce clear, highly focused 3-dimensional images throughout the breast.
Early results with digital tomosynthesis are promising. Researchers believe that this new breast imaging technique will make breast cancers easier to see in dense breast tissue and will make breast screening more comfortable.
HerSpace, one of the most advanced breast care facilities in the country, was awarded the American College of Radiology’s most prestigious award of Breast Center of Excellence.
