Parker Health Center Benefits from White Smiles
 
LINCROFT – Dr. Mitchel Friedman of Newman Springs Dental Care believes that having a whiter smile can do more than make you look better; it can help sick and disadvantaged children get needed health care.

Dr. Eugene Cheslock and Dr. Roy Carman accepted the check from Friedman at a recent trustees meeting for the Parker Family Heather Center in Red Bank. Friedman is a volunteer dentist at the health center.
Friedman, his staff and patients together raised $4,852 by whitening the donor’s smiles. The donation was shared equally between St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and Parker Family Health Center. SmilesForLife.org is a charity organization that raises funds for the benefit of children.

Grabowy Named Resources Agent of the Month

Curchin Group Partner Presents at Estate, Tax Seminar
 
RED BANK – Lynn A. Conover, a partner at The Curchin Group, LLC, a mid-sized, full-service accounting firm, participated in a panel discussion titled “Elder Care–New Jersey Estate and Inheritance Tax and Probate Issues” for more than 150 attendees of the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants (NJSCPA) on Sept. 27 in Eatontown.
Conover’s presentation included an introduction to New Jersey Estate Tax, a discussion of gifting and estate taxation, as well as an overview of New Jersey Inheritance Tax forms. The panel also discussed planning points as they related to a case study that was presented to the attendees. CPA and financial professionals who attended the program earned three continuing professional education credits in Taxation.
Conover serves as tax partner at Curchin, co-partner-in-charge for the firm’s tax committee and partner-in-charge of its family business advisory practice. She has more than 25 years of experience providing a wide range of tax services to businesses and high net-worth individuals. Her areas of expertise include tax and estate planning, consulting and compliance, and financial advisory. In addition to NJSCPA, Conover is a member of the Family Firm Institute and holds a certificate in Family Business Advising.
 
MU Professor Named Head of Bangladesh Studies Institute
 
WEST LONG BRANCH – Monmouth University has announced that Dr. Golam M. Mathbor, professor in the School of Social Work and associate dean of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, has been elected as president of the American Institute of Bangladesh Studies (AIBS) 2012-2016. He previously served as vice president of AIBS from 2008-2012.
AIBS is an association of institutions of higher learning in the United States aimed at promoting scholarly understanding between Bangladesh and the United States.  Incorporated in 1988, AIBS provides senior and junior fellowships as pre-dissertation grants.
Mathbor is serving as a vice president of the International Consortium for Social Development (ICSD). In the past he served as vice president and president of the Canadian Association for the Study of International Development (CASID). He was selected and served as a mentor for the 26th Annual National Conference on Ethics in America organized by Simon Center for the Professional Military Ethic in October 2011 at the United States Military Academy, West Point, New York.
Mathbor served as chair of the Faculty Senate of Monmouth University for the academic year 2003-2004. He is the founding president of the Long Branch Concordance, a nonprofit community service organization serving in Long Branch. Mathbor chaired and delivered the keynote address for the 17th ICSD International Symposium on “Good Governance: Building Knowledge for Social Development Worldwide” held in Dhaka, Bangladesh, in January 2011.
