Maser Consulting’s Theodos, O’Brien Win Engineering Awards
RED BANK – Chris A. Theodos and Carl P. O’Brien of Maser Consulting P.A. have been awarded Project of the Year Awards from the New Jersey Society of Municipal Engineers.
Theodos won for for the Mathis Plaza Waterfront Reconstruction project in South Toms River while O’Brien won for the design and reconstruction of the Lodi Memorial Athletic Field in Lodi.
As special project engineer for Lodi, O’Brien’s project won first place in the 2012 award program’s Category D: Municipal Parks/Recreation Project. Theodos’ project won the honor award in Category B: Municipal Construction Project. He is the municipal engineer for South Toms River.
Mathis Park, the Gateway to South Toms River, is a borough-owned and operated waterfront park that used small grants and creative funding to make big improvements to the facility. The restoration project, a favorite marine vista for the community and fishermen, also brought the park into conformance with current Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards.
Lodi’s Memorial Field is the cornerstone of Lodi and is used by children and adults for a multitude of recreational activities. The challenge to this project was in taking the initiative, above and beyond the standard industry installation of synthetic turf, and redesign this field to withstand severe flooding and increase the field’s playability for this urban community with limited open recreational space.
The intent of the program is to give recognition to municipal engineers and engineering consultants to municipalities who have contributed to the public health, safety and welfare by way of designing projects or implementing programs that are of an outstanding nature.
The awards were presented on Dec. 5 at the New Jersey Society of Municipal Engineers’ 2012 annual award reception.

Murphy Attends Barron’s Winner’s Circle Summit
SHREWSBURY – Wendy W. Murphy of Morgan Stanley was one of 500 financial advisors selected by their firms to attend the seventh annual Barron’s Winner’s Circle Top Women Advisors Summit, hosted by Barron’s magazine to promote best practices in the industry and the value of advice to the investing public.
The invitation-only conference was held at The Breakers in Palm Beach, Fla., in November.
The conference is designed to promote best practices and generate new ideas across the industry. Participants attended workshops led by the Top 100 Women Financial Advisors that explored current issues ranging from business development ideas through managing high-net-worth accounts and families to portfolio management and retirement planning.
“Financial advisors who attend this conference are passionate about delivering advice that can help their clients achieve their financial goals. In a challenging economic environment, the dispassionate analysis and well thought-out strategies discussed by some of the industry’s top professionals made this conference particularly valuable,” Murphy said.
