The Spice & Tea Exchange® Comes to Red Bank
RED BANK – The Spice & Tea Exchange® will be opening, Friday, Dec. 13, at 12 Monmouth St.
The Spice & Tea Exchange® is Red Bank’s newest gourmet retailer, offering food lovers, professional chefs, and tea enthusiasts a gourmet shopping experience filled with unique gifts and culinary delights. Guests are encouraged to “Come In and Smell The Spices®” and discover their inner chef as they browse the rustic product displays of an 18th-century trading post. Spice Masters (educated spice and tea professionals) inspire creativity as they hand-mix spice blends in-store, while guests let their curiosity guide them through the sights, smells and tastes of The Spice & Tea Exchange®.
The Spice & Tea Exchange® offers an abundance of products to choose from, with more than 120 fresh spices, over 70 exclusive hand-mixed blends, 12 naturally-flavored sugars, 24 salts from around the world and more than 30 exotic teas. The store also offers recipes, gift boxes and accessories to complement spice and tea selections.
Merchants Howard Bernstein and Lisa Prepon are excited to be able to bring a new kind of shopping experience to Monmouth County. After searching for the perfect business opportunity, Bernstein and Prepon found their passion in The Spice & Tea Exchange®.
“The enthusiasm (at The Spice & Tea Exchange®) was contagious,” Prepon said. “(Now) we are most excited about opening our own business and seeing it grow.”
The owners feel Red Bank is a perfect landing place for a gourmet food store. “Red Bank bills itself A Cool Little Town,” Bernstein said, and this Cool Little Town boasts hundreds of local retailers, restaurants, theaters and local events that draw shoppers to the city’s streets.

Monmouth U Polling Director Murray Annual Power List
WEST LONG BRANCH – Monmouth University Polling Institute Director Patrick Murray was named to PolitickerNJ.com’s annual list of New Jersey’s 100 most powerful nonelected officials.
He was ranked No. 30 on The Power List 2013. This marks the fourth year in a row that Murray has appeared on the list.
Monmouth University’s Polling Institute was the only polling organization that accurately tracked both New Jersey’s special U.S. Senate race and the governor’s contest during 2013’s unprecedented two-election season. While other pollsters suggested that there was a volatile electorate in both races, Monmouth’s polling showed a much more stable – and more narrow – margin throughout the fall, with Monmouth’s final poll result coming within 1 point of the actual senate result and two points of the governor’s race outcome.
Murray was named the founding director of the Monmouth University Polling Institute in 2005. In that short time, the Monmouth University Poll has established itself as the Garden State’s “poll of record” for its in-depth tracking of public policy and quality of life issues.
