Canvas Studio Art, a new school and studio space at 62 Carton St., Rumson, opens in January offering students a vibrant space to study visual arts disciplines.
Canvas Studio Art was created out of a need for a more comprehensive core arts instruction as well as a desire to foster growth in the local arts community. Co-founders Meg Sellig, Maricarmen Buckley and Eileen Burgess of Rumson and Beth Sillen of Fair Haven (believe that creative spaces are paramount for children and adults in the community to exchange ideas, reflect, and practice art. The impetus to open Canvas is tied to their own practice as visual artists, and a willingness to find a way to support that practice in others —children, teens, and adults.
Canvas Studio Art will host an open house 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 15 to give visitors and opportunity to see the studio spaces and to register for classes that begin, Jan. 4.
