John L. Cash, 66, of Red Bank, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on May 19 at home. He was born in Jersey City, on May 20, 1950.

He served in the U.S. Army in the HHC 171st Infantry Brigade during the Vietnam War and was trained as a “Red-Eyed Gunner” in Fairbanks, Alaska. John retired from Shore Point Distributors in 2016, after 41 years of working with people he called family. He was active within the Red Bank Community, serving on the Red Bank Planning Board for 20+ years and the past 15 years as Chairman.

He was predeceased by his parents, Harold and Evelyn Cash of Canton, Georgia; his sister, Nancy Ward of Middletown; and his sister, Ruth McCarthy, of Oldsmar, Florida. John is survived by the love of his life, his wife, Jeanie Witterschein; two sons, John L Cash Jr. and his wife Mandy and their two children, Wylie and Oakley, of Huntersville, North Carolina and Paul A. Cash of Baltimore, Maryland; his brothers Ralph Cash of Havre de Grace, Maryland, Roy Cash of Brick and James Cash and William Cash, Canton, Georgia.

John enjoyed decades of traveling abroad and around the US with his wife, Jeanie, and vacationing in Falmouth Heights, Massachusetts, each summer with family. He was an avid golfer, hiker and loved antiquing. John was a kind, generous, good-natured and a quiet-spoken man who lived his life to the fullest. He was a great husband, father and friend and will be missed by all who knew him.
