CBA Crew Team Wins Big at Greenhead Sprints

BRIGANTINE – Following a strong performance in this year’s 2014 indoor rowing season, CBA’s crew team, led by head coach Scott Belford, closed out its final competition winning the men’s high school team championship at the Greenhead Sprints.
The team won with an average time of 6:41.6, beating out St. Augustine (6:47.4) and St. Joe’s Prep (6:50.8).
The Brigantine Rowing Club hosted the event during which 315 boys competed, each completing 2,000 meters on ergometer rowing machines.
In addition to the overall team championship, CBA rowers claimed medals in all but one of their individual races.
For the junior varsity, Devin Guilfoyle, above right, took first with a time of 6:27.7 and Ryan Hutzley, left, was second with 6:30.3.
In the lightweight group, CBA’s Kevin Hayes was first with a 6:43.2 time and Mike Guadagno was second with 6:45.2.
For the freshman, CBA’s Matthew Toppi had a first place time of  6:56.3.
