ASBURY PARK – The Asbury Park Comedy Fest returns Aug. 23, 24 and 26 to the Jersey Shore for three fun-filled events.
The festival, in its second year, brings national comedians to Asbury Park while raising funds for charity.
The Wonder Bar, 1213 Ocean Ave., will present on Friday, Aug. 23, the kickoff party with live music and adult comedy. Comedian Craig Loydgren, the “Tasmanian Devil of Comedy” from The Artie Lange Show and Sirius XM, will host. The party peaks with a late night, guest-filled jam featuring Clarence Clemons III aka Nick (son of the E Street Band’s late sax man, Clarence Clemons) and his Nick Clemons Band. The Asbury Park Comedy Fest is produced by Clemons.
Wonder Bar doors open at 7:30 p.m. and there is a $5 cover charge.
The Paramount Theatre, 1300 Ocean Ave., will host on Saturday, Aug. 24, the fest’s feature night. Hosted by New Jersey’s “Bad Boy of Comedy,” Mike Marino, this year’s show will feature: Hal Sparks, Sundra Croonquist, Purnell Holloway and special guest.
Funds raised at this event, through partnership with Townsquare Media’s Restore the Shore effort, will benefit Hometown Heroes.
On Monday, Aug. 26, the weekend culminates with a golf outing at Jumping Brook Country Club, 210 Jumping Brook Road, Neptune.
The event is open to the public and welcomes golfers and sponsors. Luncheon is at noon, 1:30 p.m. shotgun start, contests and an open wine/beer bar, awards dinner, hosted by comedian Ryan Maher.
