Edward Connolly, of Eatontown, died at home on Wednesday, October 14. He was born in
Kildysart, County Clare, Ireland, and came to the United States in 1948. He married his wife, Catherine McCue in 1953.

They lived in Red Bank and Shrewsbury, before moving to Eatontown. Edward and Catherine had a loving and extraordinary supportive relationship for over 62 years, raising three children.

Edward was co-owner of The Shrewsbury Market and owned Nelson’s Meat Market in Fair Haven. He was a graduate of Brookdale Community College and attended Monmouth College. He was a communicant of St. Jerome Roman Catholic Church, West Long Branch.

Edward’s love was his family, his religion, and his Irish heritage. He was a Charter Member of the Belleek Collectors Society and was a member of The Friendly Sons of St. Patrick of the Jersey Shore He was an avid fan of the NY Giants, NY Yankees, and Notre Dame.

Edward was predeceased by his son, Sean; a brother, Thomas, a sister, Maura Carrig; and a twin-brother, Sean. He is survived by his loving wife, Catherine; his daughter, Marie Connolly; his son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Sandra Connolly; his daughter-in-law, Kathleen Connolly; a granddaughter, Laura Huskey and her husband, Nathan, and their son, Porter; a sister-in-law, Dolores Connolly; a sister, Susan and Gus (late) Butler; a sister, Philomena and Willie (late) Touhey; a brother-in-law, Vincent Carrig; and many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday, October 19 at St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank. Entombment followed at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown Township. In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation may be made to the charity of your choice. The Thompson Memorial Home, Red Bank, was in charge of the arrangements.
