William (Bill) Conroy, of Colts Neck, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, May 7 at Riverview Hospital in Red Bank. Bill was born in Brooklyn, New York, in 1931, started his family in Staten Island and moved to Middletown before finally settling in Colts Neck where he was longtime resident of over 40 years.

Bill had a long career working on the New York Stock Exchange, starting out as a page boy at the age of 21 and working there until his retirement as a proud member and colleagues at the NYSE affectionately referred to him as “Deadeye.”

Bill was known for his love of horses, music and the beach and was a longtime member of Driftwood Cabana Club. But his greatest joy was being active in his grandchildren’s lives. His friends and family will always remember him for his mastery of the Irish Exit.

Bill was predeceased by his sister, Helen; his son, Leo; and granddaughter, Ashley.

Surviving are his loving wife, Edith Conroy; five children, Sean Conroy and his wife Anita Nicosia, Meg Conroy, Helen Conroy and her husband Chuck Spina, Christine Lupton and her husband Jack Lupton and Catherine Conroy and her husband Donald Kelly; 11 grandchildren, Ed, Bridget, Jack, Charlotte, Faith, Mathew, Shane, Ana, Michael, William and Patrick; one great-grandchild, Aoife; his sisters, Kathleen Bailey and Mary Biancardi; and various nieces and nephews. Bill’s family would like to thank the staff at Riverview for their exceptional care and kindness.
