Count Basie Announces Conservatory Style, Yearlong Programs

RED BANK – The Count Basie Theatre’s Performing Arts Academy is introducing two audition-based, 10-month programs: Musical Theatre Intensive and The Actor’s Intensive.
This yearlong conservatory style training program is intended for students who are career oriented or wish to take their training to a professional level.
“While we’ve always offered a variety of classes in acting, singing and dance, we feel that it is time to address our ever growing population of students who have their sights set on a career in the performing arts, said Yvonne Lamb Scudiery, Count Basie Theatre’s director of education. “We realize that to achieve these aspirations, students need to be challenged by a cohesive curriculum that is intensive, motivating and consistent.
“We are looking for individuals with potential, coupled with a strong work ethic and ability to focus,” she said.
Auditions will be held on Sunday, Sept. 9, and Monday, Sept. 10.  Interested students should call 732-224-8778, Ext.125 to set up an audition time.
There is an annual base tuition fee of $325 per student for the full 10-month program.
The current four sessions per year (fall, winter, spring, summer) program will still continue for those who wish to test the waters and to experiment with a variety of theater-based classes.
“Under the guidance and mentoring of our professional faculty, we are confident that these intensives will help to generate our future Oscar and Tony winning performers,” Scudiery said.
