County Fair Set for July 25-29 in Freehold

A family watches the fireworks at the 2011Monmouth County Fair. This year’s county fair is July 25-29 with the fireworks show slated for 9:15 p.m. Wednesday, July 25, at the fairgrounds, 1500 Kozloski Road, Freehold.

FREEHOLD – This year’s Monmouth County Fair is almost here.
The fair will feature family fun with rides, entertainment, food and tons of fun exhibits.
The Monmouth County Fair gates will be open from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. Wednesday, July 25, through Friday, July 27; from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday, July 28; and from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, July 29 at the East Freehold Show­grounds, 1500 Kozloski Road, Freehold.
The opening night will feature a fireworks display at 9:15 p.m.
Music on the main stage will included the Amish Outlaws from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 25. The band’s music covers popular bands like Devo, Nirvana and U2. Thursday, July 26, from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. brings Brian Kirk & the Jirks to the stage. The Jersey shore popular cover band has been playing local stages with their repertoire of rock, funk, pop, hip hop, swing, jazz, and oldies for almost 20 years. Country music’s Jaida Dreyer will perform 9 to 10:30 p.m. Friday, July 27, and Slippery When Wet, a Bon Jovi tribute band, will play from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. Saturday, July 28. The Latin rhythm band 3D Ritmo de Vida will perform noon to 1:30 p.m. Sunday, July 29.
In addition to the musical acts, live entertainment acts will include Raptor Project – Birds of Prey, Dock Dogs, and the Skateboarding Stunt Show, as well as returning favorites like Robinson’s Racing Pigs, Hell on Wheels BMX Stunt Show, and Tommie Turvey Equine Extremist.
The Monmouth County Fair also will be hosting its 35th Annual Antique and Classic Auto Show on Sunday, July 29. The show will include antique/production autos to 1932, production cars from 1933 through 1985, sports cars to 1985 (including classic Corvettes and Mustangs), and fire trucks to 1972. There also will be street rods, modified cars, race cars and motorcycles on display. The Antique Motoring Club of Monmouth County will once again judge the show.
Admission is $7 per person; children 12 and under are free. Those who love rides can get a pay-one-price rides wristband for $18 on Wednesday and Thursday, July 25-25, and Sunday, July 29. For more information about the fair, visit www.monmouthcountyfair.com, or call 732-842-4000.
