RED BANK – The Curchin Group, LLC, a mid-sized, full-service accounting firm based in Red Bank, announced that HABcore Inc. and The Samaritan Center at the Jersey Shore are the two local nonprofit organizations selected to receive all proceeds from the firm’s Ninth Annual Curchin Open indoor miniature golf tournament.
This year’s event takes place from 4 to 7 p.m. Nov. 5 at Curchin’s office at 200 Schulz Dr., Suite 400.
Since 1988, HABcore Inc., based in Red Bank, has provided permanent housing and individualized support to homeless families, veterans and individuals with special needs in Monmouth and Ocean counties to help them move through crisis to stability with dignity and hope, and the opportunity to improve their lives.
“We rely greatly on funding from outside organizations, so we are thrilled that The Curchin Group has selected us as a beneficiary of their fundraiser,” said Steve Heisman, HABcore’s executive director. “The donation will help us expand much needed supportive services to residents of our boarding homes in Asbury Park and Red Bank.”
Located in Manasquan, The Samaritan Center at the Jersey Shore was established in 2010 to provide clinical psychological services, coaching, mentoring, spiritual enrichment and educational opportunities for area families and individuals needing health and life-direction support.
“We are indeed fortunate that The Curchin Group has chosen us to receive proceeds from their annual golf event,” said Irma Geib, executive director of the center. “The money raised will help subsidize the cost of counseling for clients in financial difficulty. Since we do not turn anyone away because of inability to pay, we are grateful that organizations, like Curchin, can help us help those in need.”
Last year, with the support of almost 40 corporate and individual sponsors and dozens of participants, the Eighth Annual Curchin Open raised $16,000 for Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore and Family & Children’s Service in Long Branch. Since the event started in 2005, Curchin has raised more than $105,000 for deserving charities throughout Monmouth and Ocean counties.
Player fees are $20 per person, which includes a round of mini-golf on the firm’s team-designed course, food and beverages.
Curchin is offering sponsorship opportunities to local businesses that would like to help the selected charities and elevate their profile in the community.
