LONG BRANCH – A fitness event benefitting two charities will have participants “Cycling Under the Stars” from 8 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 13, at the Pier Village Boardwalk.
Franci Cohen, owner of Fuel Fitness in Brooklyn, N.Y., and Gold’s Gym of Long Branch are hosting the fundraiser on behalf of Sephardic Bikur Holim, a nonprofit mental health and social service agency, and Tour de Cure, a series of cycling events to raise funds and awareness of diabetes.
Started last summer by Cohen and friends from Gold’s Gym, Cycling Under the Stars benefitted both the Hurricane Sandy NJ Relief Fund and Tour de Cure.
In order to accommodate more than 100 riders this year and raise additional funds, a pre-event “Happy Hour” ride will be held at 6 p.m., with the charity ride beginning at 8 p.m.
Cost for the ride is $152 per bike; multiple family members may sponsor a rider, building up to the $152 donation. All profits go directly to charity.
The event will be held rain or shine.
