Cyclist Hit In Sea Bright

SEA BRIGHT – An Eatontown man while riding a bicycle was struck by a vehicle on Sunday afternoon leaving him with unspecified but not life-threatening injuries.
Information was limited concerning the incident. Police Chief John Sorrentino identified the victim as Richard Cherry, an Eatontown resident.
The incident occurred late afternoon in front of Ship Ahoy beach club, 801 Ocean Ave., the borough First Aid squad transported Cherry to an area hospital for treatment.
Sorrentino had no information concerning the extent of the injuries other than they weren’t life-threatening.
Sorrentino did not have informational available concerning the driver or vehicle involved other than police did not issue any summons.
In order to continue a dialogue with the public about pedestrian and cyclist safety, the Two River Times will hold a forum at 7 p.m. Sept. 21 at Red Bank Catholic High School. The forum is par t of an initiative undertaken by the newspaper, and joined by the mayors of Red Bank, Fair Haven and Rumson, its stakeholders, Red Bank RiverCenter, Riverview Medical Center and Newport Media Holdings, as well as Senators Joseph Kyrillos and Jennifer Beck and various safety groups.
The forum will provide educational information from police departments about what’s legal and what’s not for pedestrians, cyclists as well as drivers.
