Mrs. Anna K. Danowitz. 93, of Boynton Beach, Fla.,
passed away peacefully in her home on September 19. A
long-time resident of Little Silver.
Daughter of William and Regina Barrington, Anna grew
up in Woodbury. Coming from a musical family, she began
piano lessons at age five and continued music and performance
studies throughout her life.
After completing the Commercial course at Woodbury
Junior-Senior High School, she took a job at the
Philadelphia Naval Shipyard where she met Lt. Chester
Danowitz.
In the summer of 1945 she made a cross-country train
trip to marry him at the U.S. Naval base in Bremerton,
Wash. She then returned by plane to New Jersey, where
she lived happily with her husband for many years.
An accomplished pianist, music teacher and entertainer, she accompanied singers and
choruses in a variety of performance venues. She was a longtime member of the Little
Silver Woman’s Club, serving as president and music director for several years.
Anna enjoyed the family holidays, especially summer picnics in the backyard, surrounded
by her children and grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Chester Danowitz.
She is survived by three children, William Danowitz of Fair Haven, Regina Coppers of
south Florida and Ann Danowitz of Sonoita, Ariz. She also has six grandchildren and 14
great-grandchildren.
Boynton Memorial Chapel is handling local arrangements. A memorial service will be
held in Fair Haven in the near future.
