Debra Camal, M.D., FACS has taken on a new and expanded role with Meridian Health, as medical director of the breast program under Meridian Cancer Care.
Camal has been a part of Meridian Health for a number of years, practicing at Riverview Medical Center. As medical director, she will work closely with Mark Krasna, M.D., medical director of Meridian Cancer Care, to redesign, rethink, and re-imagine the delivery of breast cancer services within the continuum of care at Meridian Health, to provide the optimal clinical and service experience for patients and their families.
“This new role allows me to bring my passion for patient care and my commitment to advancing breast cancer care in New Jersey to a new level,” she said.
Drs. Camal and Krasna will work collaboratively with the medical staff at Meridian Health, the medical staff and research team at The Cancer Institute of New Jersey (CINJ), and leading clinicians across the nation to design, adopt, and implement the most current protocols, practices, clinical trials, and standards of breast cancer care based on a multi-disciplinary prospective approach and patient-centered care.
“Patient-centered, multi-disciplinary cancer care, where the team reaches a consensus before any treatment is delivered is the paradigm for Meridian Cancer Care,” said Krasna. “Dr. Camal brings exceptional expertise that will help us drive innovation within the breast program at Meridian Health.”
Camal has also recently joined the medical staff at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel.
