John D. “Jack” Deisler, 91, passed away at home on Saturday, January 9. He was born in Jersey City and resided in Rumson for the past 85 years. Jack graduated from Rumson High School and went on to serve this country in World War II as a naval aviator. He returned to college and received his bachelor’s degree from Lehigh University, graduating cum laude in 1948. He was an electronic engineer at Fort Monmouth in Eatontown for 40 years prior to his retirement in 1988. Jack was an avid swimmer and enjoyed fishing, boating, and walking in the woods. He was a longtime member and master mariner of the Shrewsbury Power Squadron. Since childhood, he was a communicant at Holy Cross R.C. Church in Rumson, where he later served as an usher for many years.

He was predeceased by his loving wife of 64 years, Jean S. Deisler, in 2014; and his parents, Christian and Anna (Ehrgott) Deisler. Surviving are his beloved daughter, Carol (Deisler) Dobrovolski and her husband Edward; his grandchildren, Bryan and his wife Melissa of Charlotte, N.C., and Jennifer of N.Y.C.; and his great-grandson, Bryan Jr. Jack was loved and respected by all who knew him. He will indeed be missed.

Visitation was held at the John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank, on Wednesday, January 13. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Cross R.C. Church on Thursday, January 14, at 10 a.m. Cremation will be private.
