FAIR HAVEN – The Jersey Shore is renowned for it’s beauty, history, and music – and very recently for its amazing ability to recover from Super Storm Sandy’s fury.
The 2014 Dorn’s Classic Images (DCI) Calendar pays tribute to “Jersey Shore Towns” by featuring 29 historical photographs, dating from 1895 through the 1960s. These beachfront images were chosen from among 5,000 photographs in the Dorn’s Classic Images archive, which includes 2,500 antique glass-plate negatives.

The cover of the first Dorn’s Classic Images calendar features a photo of a woman walking a duck on the boardwalk in Bradley Beach.

The Dorn’s calendar depicts Bradley Beach (cover), Asbury Park and Ocean Grove (back cover), Atlantic Highlands, Highlands, Sea Bright, Monmouth Beach, Long Branch and Asbury Park.
“We’re very excited to be launching our first-ever Dorn’s calendar, especially since it features the shore towns we’ve loved throughout our lifetime as area natives,” said DCI owner Kathy Dorn Severini. “We plan to send calendars to Gov. Christie, Lt. Gov. Guadagno, and President Obama, amongst others who have supported the recovery from Sandy.”
DCI owner George Severini added, “I’ve been editing the archive for nine years, and I discover something new almost every day. Until a few days ago I had never seen the calendar’s cover shot of the young woman walking a duck on the Bradley Beach boardwalk. It’s peopled with the kind of 1950s characters Norman Rockwell would have painted if he had done a Jersey Shore cover for the Saturday Evening Post.”
The calendars will be available, starting in mid-November, at $10 each plus shipping and handling for customers receiving calendars by mail. Customers who purchase a calendar will be eligible to receive a 25 percent discount on an 8×10 or 11×14 print of any photo featured in the calendar.
Selected retailers offering the calendar will include: The Monmouth Museum on the campus of Brookdale Community College, Newman Springs Road, Lincroft; Red Bank FrameWorks at 160 Monmouth St., Red Bank; and Laird Stationery & Printing Co. 594 River Road, Fair Haven.
