Linda J. Ellis, 78, of Easton, Pennsylvania, died March 6 at the VNA Hospice House of St. Luke’s. She was the wife of David R. Ellis.

Before living in Easton, Linda and Dave also lived in Ohio, New Jersey, Massachusetts and New York. She was born in New York City on July 4, 1939 to the late Volkert and Marie (Durrant) Jacobs. Linda graduated from Balboa High School, Panama Canal Zone.

Subsequently she earned her bachelor’s degree in English from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana, and her master’s degree in library science from Simmons College in Boston. She was also awarded a Sloan Foundation Fellowship in economics journalism at Princeton University. A successful journalist, Linda wrote for a variety of newspapers during her career, including the Indianapolis News, Newark News, Daily Register, Asbury Park Press and American Banker. She finished her career as a freelance writer. In 2001 she authored and published a crime novel, “Death at a Dumpster.” In addition to writing, Linda loved reading and passed that love onto her children. She was a member of various book clubs and bridge clubs and was an avid follower of minor and major league baseball, especially the New York Yankees. In addition to showing love to her family and friends, Linda was devoted to her black Labrador retrievers, including, Jo Jo and Guinness. She was of the Episcopalian faith.

In addition to her husband of 55 years, she is survived by her children, Margo C. Ellis Christou and her husband Alex of San Clemente, California, and Ross E. Ellis and his wife Joanne (Rader) of Nazareth, Pennsylvania; and grandchildren, Abigail, Ross Jr., Nate, Sami and Joseph.

Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 3, at St. Brigid’s Episcopal Church, 310 Madison Ave., Nazareth, Pennsylvania. Arrangements are under the care of the Schmidt Funeral Home, Nazareth.
