Festival of Arts Awards Student Art Winners

More than 30 high school students from throughout Monmouth County competed for cash prizes displaying over 50 pieces of art.
A photograph, entitled “Helping Hands,” took the first place prize and was taken by Matt Schall of Tinton Falls who attends St. Rose High School. Second prize went to Caitlin Mullally of Red Bank, who attends Ranney School, for her acrylic painted entitled “Soldier.”  Loribeth Wodell of Point Pleasant, who also attends St. Rose School, took third place for her ink art called “Deadlines.”
Five Honorable mentions were awarded to the following students: Madison Acker of Colts Neck, Ranney School, for her mixed paper and macho piece entitled “POP;” Kayla Catanzaro of Wall High School for her pencil art, “Mad Man;” Matt Corrado of Howell High School for his jewelry pendent called “Twisted Love;” Kylie Medlin of Marlboro, Ranney School, for her paper dried flower ceramic entitled “Rebirth;” Lauren Wootten of Wall High School for her pen and ink, “Lauren is Not Impressed.”
Winners receive first, second and third place prizes of $100, $75 and $50 contributed by the Jim Gary Foundation. During this year, while the Festival of the Arts is on hiatus, the winning students’ artwork will be displayed at the Eastern Branch of the Monmouth County Library in Shrewsbury during the month of April.
MFA workshops are designed to provide high school art students with practical information related to preparation and presentation of their works for submission to college interviews and art shows. Monmouth Reform Temple has been commended for its support of the arts and art education and has been the winner of the Governor’s Award in Art Education.
