FAIR HAVEN – The Fair Haven PTA will host its biennial house tour from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14. The event is one of the key fundraisers for the Fair Haven School District.
The 2012 holiday tour, which draws approximately 300 community members each year, features eight distinctive Fair Haven homes, including an updated 1870 house in the historic district; a renovated Cape Cod-style home with a shore feel; an eclectic house built in 1890 on the Navesink River; a builder’s modern dream home; and a modular home with charming front porch.
Each home will be decorated for the holidays with tabletops and floral arrangements sure to inspire. Tour-goers will sample some of the best local fare from popular chefs, including David Burke’s Fromagerie in Rumson, Lusty Lobster in Highlands, Pop’s Garage in Shrewsbury, Woody’s in Sea Bright, Cups and Cakes in Rumson, and local favorites Tavolo Pronto, Gourmet Picnic and Taste and Technique.
Two special raffle prizes will be offered. The grand prize is $3,000 worth of landscaping, donated by Sycamore Landscaping. The first prize features dinner for 10 prepared in the winner’s home or other local home of their choice, by Chef Hernan Garces of the Raven Tea Room. The dinner includes beverages, flowers, dessert and service to help the host and hostess relax. Tickets for these two prizes are $10 each.
Fair Haven’s First Floors has several generous sponsors to help make the event possible, including Sycamore Landscaping, Merrick Builders, Heritage House/ Sotheby’s, and Better Housekeeping.
“We are so lucky to have eight families willing to open up their homes to the PTA during this busy time of year. This is great day is guaranteed to put everyone in the holiday spirit,” said Laura Nolan, Fair Haven PTA president.
Proceeds from Fair Haven’s First Floors will support the educational programs in the Fair Haven school system. The mission of the Fair Haven PTA is to promote the welfare, safety, and educational development of Fair Haven’s children in the home, school and community through cooperative efforts of parents and teachers.
