ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS – The Atlantic Highlands Art Council will once again be hosting the FilmOne Fest, a film festival featuring films that are under 2 minutes in length. The event will be held from 7 to 10:30 p.m. July 20 at the Atlantic Highlands Marina.
As a special tribute in 2013, the organizers of FilmOneFest are excited to award three cash prizes – 1st place will be $500; 2nd, $300; and 3rd, $200 – to filmmakers who create 1-minute films that highlight the struggles, triumphs and rebuilding efforts of the people and places impacted by Super Storm Sandy.
For too many along the shores of New Jersey, New York and Connecticut, it’s been a devastating and ongoing recovery process. We have witnessed scenes of great loss, sadness, sorrow, devastation and suffering. At the same time, we have witnessed scenes of the greatest courage, bravery, kindness, resiliency, generosity and outpourings of love and rebuilding of community.
The contest asks filmmakers, looking through their lens on the world, what stories and scenes stand out for them as acts of the best in human spirit that will serve as inspirations for years to come?
Winning films will be announced by July 1. Awards will be presented at the 5th Annual FilmOneFest on July 20.
