“Red Army” is about the Soviet Union and the most successful dynasty in sports history: the Red Army hockey team. Told from the perspective of its captain, Slava Fetisov, the film shows the betrayals that led to his transformation from national hero to political enemy. “Red Army” also examines the rise and fall of the Red Army team with that of the Soviet Union. “Red Army” is a story about a man who faced off against a powerful political system and paved the way for change for generations of Russians. The movie is rated PG and runs 1 hour and 16 minutes.
FilmOneFest presents “Red Army” in its official New Jersey premiere. The Sony Pictures Classics documentary was recently screened – to great reviews – as an official entry at this year’s Cannes Film Festival.
