Flash Flood Warning in Effect for the Area, Inches of Rain Predicted Today

As of 10:30 a.m., many intersections were flooded; gutters were turned into small rivers and catch basins were overwhelmed. Motorists were detouring around flooded area and getting around was particularly slow going.
In Fair Haven, workers had to sweep water that flowed into the polling place at the Fair Haven Youth Center. Voting was continuing.
In Middletown, a car was stuck in floodwater and traffic was halted on westbound Newman Springs Road  at the Garden State Parkway underpass. Traffic was moving very slowly through the flooded underpass eastbound.
The National Weather Service was predicting rainfall could possibly be 3 to 4 inches today with flooding.
A flash flood warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring. Residents living along streams and creeks should take immediate precautions to protect life and property. The weather service warns people that they should never attempt to cross swiftly flowing water or water of unknown depth by foot or by a car.
