FAIR HAVEN – The Foundation of Fair Haven will once again celebrate the borough in a grand way on Saturday, June 15, during Fair Haven Day at Fair Haven Fields on Ridge Road.
The family fun day will feature food, live music, games, fireworks and more. There will be rides and games for the kids with the Fair Haven recreation department’s “Rec-N-Crew” on hand to help and entertain. Live music will start at 3 p.m. with Ardvark Smile, followed by the popular Brian Kirk & The Jirks and before the fireworks, the borough’s own River Road Band.
“After a very successful Centennial Celebration last year, residents and town officials asked us to do it again,” said Foundation President and Councilwoman Susan Sorensen. “It was such a special day for so many that we wanted to continue to celebrate Fair Haven. The feeling of community is palpable all day and everyone really enjoys it all with their whole family. We have added some terrific additions to the celebration and look forward to another outstanding event.”
A committee and team of volunteers have been working on the event for many months. Many of the new features are thanks to sponsorships from The Fair Haven Business Association, Boynton & Boynton, Rumson-Fair Haven Bank and Trust Company, Barrett & Pavluk, Smart Start Pre-School, Fair Haven Martial Arts, Kick, PNC Bank, Two River Computers and more.
Brennan’s Deli of Rumson with Caryn McCann, a Fair Haven resident, and her crew return with an American barbecue to please all ages. It will feature hamburgers and hot dogs, macaroni and cheese, potato salad and a green salad. The price is $10 a serving. Soft drinks, water and dessert also will be included. Thanks to another Fair Haven resident Doug Doughty, owner of Lusty Lobster, there will be a raw bar option at $5 per serving with a selection of fresh seafood.
Food servings will start at 5 p.m. A beer and sangria garden will be available for an additional cost with proper ID after 4 p.m.
Visitors can bring blankets, chairs and the whole family for a day of community at it’s finest. Those who purchase barbecue tickets early at Fair Haven Borough Hall will have the opportunity to win prizes.
