Frankly, My Dear… There’s a New Production at the First Avenue Playhouse

ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS – First Avenue Playhouse next month will present Moonlight and Magnolias, a production about the making of the film Gone with the Wind.
The story centers around 1939 Hollywood. Legendary producer David O. Selznick has shut down production of his new epic, Gone with the Wind. While fending off the film’s stars, gossip columnists and his own father-in-law, Selznick sends a car for screenwriter Ben Hecht and pulls director Victor Fleming from the set of The Wizard of Oz. Summoning both to his office, he locks the doors, closes the shades and on a diet of bananas and peanuts, the three men labor over five days to fashion a screenplay that will become the blueprint for one of the most successful and beloved films.
The production can be seen: 8:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, June 1-30; 2:30 p.m. Sunday, June 17, and 8:30 p.m. Thursdays, June 7 and 21. Tickets are $22 each, $18 for seniors on Thursdays and Sunday, June 17. Dinner packages are available. Reservations are available at 732-291-7552.
The First Avenue Playhouse is located at 123 First Avenue. Additional information is available at www.firstavenueplayhouse.com.
