RED BANK – The Navesink Garden Club will compete again in the New Jersey Flower and Garden Show, Feb. 14-17 at the Convention Center in Edison.
Last year the club members won the first place blue ribbon in the Club Competition category and the Best in Show blue ribbon for their exhibit, called The Enchant Cottage.
Club members Katherine Pojawa, Gotti Kelley and Kathleen Panepinto won blue ribbons in the horticulture category.
Mardi Gras Madness is this year’s theme for the largest standard flower show in New Jersey. It is the highlight of the New Jersey Flower and Garden Show. The show will have garden installations, gardening seminars, how-to classes, and plenty of vendors selling everything related to gardens and flowers.
The Navesink Garden Club is a member of The Garden Club of New Jersey, Inc. and the Central Atlantic Region of National Garden Clubs, Inc. Meetings are held the third Tuesday of each month at the Atrium and most meetings are open to the public.
The next meeting on March 19 will feature a speaker from “Edible New Jersey” magazine to celebrate local foods from the Garden State.
During the club’s January meeting Gotti Kelley, the horticulture chair, talked about a “Potpourri of Ideas” on gardening, plants, landscaping and described a plethora of design accouterments that can be used to create innovative, award-winning designs in flower shows.
