Patricia Porter Gettis, 86, of Oceanport, entered eternal life with her family at her bedside in Riverview Hospital. Patricia was born in South Amboy to Anna and James Porter. She married Neil A. Gettis on January 1951 and lived in Rumson and Little Silver before moving to Shadow Lake in Middletown. Patricia graduated from Red Bank Catholic High School. Afterward she worked at Prudential Insurance Company of Newark in the secretarial pool. She was a wonderful homemaker and great cook. She threw many memorable St. Patrick’s Day parties. She was a great Irish friend to all who knew her. Patricia also was very active in Socializer at Shadow Lake Village. She will be greatly missed.
She was predeceased by her loving husband, Neil, and her youngest son, Mark.
She is survived by her daughter, Cherie A. Shoemaker of Oceanport and her husband Allen; her son, Skip Gettis and his wife Cathy of Oceanport, with whom she lived with for the past five years. She was a devoted grandmother to Tricia Shoemaker and Stacey Rauen (Jon) and Cole and Cooper Gettis. She delighted in her three great-grandsons, Jack, Derrick and Porter.
