Richard V. Giangrossi, 85, passed away on Sunday,
October 11 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in
Hamilton with his beloved daughter-in-law at his side.
Richard, a Middletown resident, was born in Staten Island,
N.Y., and lived in New York until moving to New Jersey in 1961.
A veteran of the U.S Army, Richard served in Korea. He
retired in 1996 from AT&T Bell Labs, where he worked as a
technician. Richard was involved in underwater phone cable
placement, which allowed him to travel to various locations
in South America and Europe. He was directly involved in inventions and patents for AT&T.
In his early adult years, Richard enjoyed playing softball,
and bowling. After retiring he enjoyed “tinkering” and fixing
TVs and radios. He always loved working on cars and was
the man his family would turn to for car repairs and advice on their cars.
He was predeceased by his parents, Antonio and
Gertrude (nee Cotturri); his beloved wife of 59 years, Bjorg; and his brothers, Francis and James.
He is survived by his son, John and his endearing daughter-
in-law, Jacqueline, of Hamilton; his son, Paul and his
daughter-in-law, Ann-Sofi of Stockholm, Sweden; and his
daughter, Diane of Indiana. He is also survived by his granddaughter,
Maya of Sweden; and his grandsons, William of Hamilton and John Jr. of Scotland.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 16 at
11:30 a.m. in the Chapel of the Brigadier General William C.
Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 350 Province Line
Road, Wrightstown, NJ. (Please enter from the Jacobstown- Arneytown Road entrance.)
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Richard’s
