Patricia Ann Velbinger Grewe, 81, of Red Bank, passed away on January 9 at NY Presbyterian Hospital surrounded by family. Pat was born in Elizabeth to Otto and Catherine Velbinger. She graduated from Cranford High School and Berkeley Secretarial School. Known for her beautiful sparkling blue eyes, and determined spirit Pat was a friend to ever yone she met. A longtime resident of Middletown she, with her husband Don, raised four children Donna, Mark, Trisha and Amy.
Pat was a member of the Middletown South PTA, the Middletown Booster Club and was a Girl Scout leader. More than anything Pat enjoyed spending time with her cherished family and avidly attended and supported all of her grandchildrens’ activities. Pat traveled the world with her husband Don and they were the envy of the dance floor. Known for her youthful spirit Pat enjoyed the occasional trip to Atlantic City, a glass of scotch and a good laugh.
Pat was predeceased by her husband, Don, in 2008. She is survived by her children, Donna Cuming and her husband Tom of Middletown, Mark Grewe and his wife Donna of Shrewsbury, Trisha Hall and her husband Rick of North Carolina and Amy Dent and her husband Tim of Maryland; her sister, Barbara Leighton and her husband Milt of Florham Park; her nine grandchildren, Maureen, Ryan, Eryn, Meredith, Tyler, Connor, Brandon, Holly and Claudia; and her nieces and nephews.
There will be a memorial gathering on Friday, January 15 from 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday, January 16 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., with a funeral service at 11:30 a.m., at the Thompson Memorial Home, 310 Broad St, Red Bank.
