William Joseph Gricko Jr., 68, of Hazlet, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, May 15 at Bayshore Community Hospital in Holmdel. William was born on August 25, 1947 in Bayonne, where he grew up. On January 18, 1969, William and his wife, Helen, were married and began their life together. A few years later, they settled in Hazlet to raise their family.

Throughout William’s life, he worked as an administrator for AT&T Company. For the last 14 years, William was a substitute teacher for Freehold Regional High School district, spending most of his time teaching at Marlboro and Colts Neck High School. William’s family described him as a “family man.” He was also a great pool player, which was one of his favorite hobbies, and he especially enjoyed playing pool with his close friend, Stanley Grohowski.

He was predeceased by his mother, Florence (Silewski) Gricko. William is survived by his father, William Joseph Gricko Sr.; his beloved and devoted wife of 47 years, Helen M. (Harris) Gricko; and his loving children, Natalie Gricko and Scott Elliott of Holmdel and Michael Gricko and his wife, Amanda, of Parlin. He is also survived by his dear sister, Arlene Gricko of Minnesota; his adoring mother-in-law, Irene Harris; and his cherished grandchildren, William and Kayla Gricko.
