Mary E. Griggs, 74, of Inverness, Fla., formerly of Old Bridge, passed away
peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, October 10. She was born Mary E. Anderson
on December 14, 1940 in Linden. On September 14, 1958, Mary and her husband,
Robert, were married, which marked the beginning of the Grigg’s family legacy.
Mary’s family fondly describes her as a soft spoken and extremely kind woman. Her heart was charitable as
well as pure and, on several occasions, had a difficult time containing so much love. For those family and friends that
remember the family’s motto, Mary will forever remind us that life is not worth living if you can’t get a laugh or two out
of it. She was predeceased by her parents, Harry and Mable (Erkman) Anderson; and her daughter, Diane.
Mary is survived by her beloved husband of 57 years, Robert Griggs; her loving children, Robert Griggs and his wife Linda of Millstone, Elaine M. Griggs of Kansas, and Theresa Griggs and her husband Paul Roberts of WestOrange; her dear sisters, Jewel Czuchta and Florence
Saunders; and her seven cherished grandchildren. A Celebration of life, hosted by Mary’s immediate family,
was held at La Riviera Restaurant, Matawan, on Tuesday October 13. In respect of Mary’s wishes, she will be privately cremated.
Arrangements were entrusted to the Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Hazlet.
In lieu of flowers, donations in loving memory of Mary
to www.pennmedicine.org/giving would be greatly appreciated.
