International Champion Barney Harris, sailing with Lee Mullins as crew, dominated the 2014 Albacore class Mid-Atlantic Championships, sailed July 20, on Sandy Hook Bay and hosted by the Monmouth Boat Club. Harris won the first six races in a fleet of seven boats and after a third in race seven came back to win the final race. Monmouth Boat Club (MBC) Past Commodore, Dale Barney, serving as principal race officer, set Olympic courses on the bay off of Atlantic Highlands. Competitors sailed in a consistent breeze from the east-southeast. MBC’s Gene Spillane finished sixth and Terry Murch was seventh.
