Haupt II, Paul, Age: 73, Shrewsbury

1149

Paul Haupt II, 73, of Shrewsbury, passed away on Jan. 21. Paul was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to William Paul and Eleanor Collins Haupt. He grew up in West Virginia and then moved to Morristown. He was the owner of Haupt Dental Lab in Fair Haven for 43 years before retiring in 2014. Paul was a parishioner of St. Leo the Great in Lincroft and St. Anthony of Padua R.C. Church in Red Bank. He was a member of the Red Bank Elks BPOE 2033, the Knights of Columbus in Fair Haven, the Jersey Shore Running Club and was a life member of the Lincroft First Aid.

Paul was predeceased by his parents; first wife Sarah; and brothers Geoffrey and David.

He is survived by his fiancé Marie A. Accardi of Red Bank; son Paul Haupt III and his daughter-in-law Megan of Flourtown, Pennsylvania; his daughter, Heidi Haupt and son-in-law Joel Peterson of Shrewsbury, and his youngest daughter Anna Accardi of Shrewsbury; brother Erik Haupt of Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania; sisters Katherine Cheshire and brother-in-law Bob of Seattle, Washington and Barbara Haupt of Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania; and his grandson Lars Haupt.

An avid golfer, marathon runner, amateur chef, and gardener, Paul’s talents and zest for life were limitless. As a lifelong Jets and Yankees fan, he could only be lured away from a game by the call of a friend in need of his tools. Paul was perhaps best known as “everyone’s favorite handyman,” and his handiwork can be seen throughout Monmouth County, in and around the homes of those he loved. And the list of those who loved Paul Haupt was endless, as he gave to others unconditionally and touched so many lives in his very special way. Be it his Tuesday night dart league with his partner in crime Jay Connelly, his Tiki Bar comrades, the St. Leo’s softball team (aka – the Buffalos), his loyal golf brethren, or his new found friends of the Monmouth Bar Association, those fortunate enough to know Paul Haupt were without exception changed for the better.

Above all of his extraordinary features, Paul had an enormous heart, filled with devotion and compassion for those he loved, and he loved many. Nothing was more important to him than his family that grew larger throughout his life. He was devoted to his late wife Sally, and his children, Heidi and Rudy, and grandson Lars, who brought him such joy. Later in his life, his extraordinary love for his fiancé Marie was apparent to anyone who knew them, and he adored his “true gift” Anna, their daughter, who was the apple of his eye. Paul’s dedication to his family extended to his siblings, relatives, and soon to be in-laws, Sam, Dorothy, Maria, and Christina Balacco, with whom he shared a very special bond. Undoubtedly, Paul will continue to watch over everyone, while toasting us from his great Tiki Bar in the sky!
