LONG BRANCH – The date for the annual American Heart Association/American Stroke Association Monmouth & Ocean Counties Heart Ball has been moved to Saturday, Nov. 8. The event will be held from 7 p.m. to midnight at the Ocean Place Resort & Spa.
The event, chaired by Carol Stillwell, CEO Stillwell-Hansen, Inc., will honor Charles and Beth Melita of Monmouth County for their work and efforts to promote education around the importance of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). Following the tragic loss of their son from sudden cardiac arrest, the Melitas have made a commitment to helping train the local community – specifically high school students – in the lifesaving skill of CPR.
The evening also will pay special tribute to the late Morgan Cline of Monmouth County, longtime supporter of the American Heart Association and generous philanthropist, who made a significant impact to benefit the Jersey Shore community.
Guests will enjoy a lively theme of “Hearts on Fire” as well as live and silent auctions, dining, dancing and prime networking opportunities.
Cardiovascular disease remains the leading cause of death of Americans, claiming an estimated 2,400 lives each day, which averages one death every 37 seconds. However, research suggests that nearly 80 percent of cardiac events may be prevented if certain risk factors are controlled, such as obesity, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and smoking.
The American Heart Association/American Stroke Association is focused on raising awareness of these deadly diseases while empowering members of the community to take action to reduce their risk. Additionally, research focused on cardiovascular wellness serves as a priority for the organization, with thousands of lives being saved because of American Heart Association-funded treatments and procedures, such as CPR, coronary bypass surgery, heart valve replacement and the pacemaker. But there is much more work to be done.
Ticket reservations and additional information for the Monmouth and Ocean Counties Heart Ball are available by visiting http://monmouthoceanheartball.heart.org.
All previously purchased sponsorships, tickets and generous auction donations will be honored on Nov. 8.
