The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday for the region.
Snow accumulations of 1 to 2 inches are expected during the morning with additional totals possible during the afternoon “particularly Middlesex and Monmouth counties where isolated 3 to 4 inches totals may occur,” according to the advisory, issued shortly before 3 p.m. Monday.
Snow is expected to begin between 5 and 7 a.m. and end between 1 and 4 p.m. from west to east.
Impacts are expected to be falling snow during the morning commute and slippery conditions on untreated surfaces.
As the snow tapers off, temperatures are expected to rise above freezing.
Winter finally – officially – arrives at 12:11 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 21.
