LONG BRANCH – According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, prostate cancer is the most common form of cancer affecting men in the U.S. The Leon Hess Center at Monmouth Medical Center will provide free prostate cancer screenings to qualifying men from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 10. The screenings will take place at the hospital’s Institute for Advanced Radiation Oncology, located at 300 Second Ave.
New guidelines from the American Urological Association recommend that men, ages 54 to 70, undergo prostate cancer testing every two years. Monmouth Medical Center urologists will perform screenings for these men and those 40 and older who are African-American or have a father or brother diagnosed with prostate cancer before the age of 65 and have not undergone a prostate examination or prostate specific antigen (PSA) testing within the past two years.
