Highlands, Atlantic Highlands School Districts To Share Superintendent With Henry Hudson

553

THE COMMUNITIES OF Atlantic Highlands and Highlands have announced that they have entered into a shared services agreement with Atlantic Highlands Elementary School, Highlands Elementary School and Henry Hudson Regional High School to share the position of superintendent of schools.
The search for a shared superintendent began in August 2011 with the formation of a tri-district superintendent search committee that was comprised of several board members from each of the three school districts. This committee collaborated with Dr. Vincent Caprara, interim superintendent at Henry Hudson Regional School District, to write a job description, write and post an advertisement for the position, screen the resumes, interview the
candidates and bring the best candidate to all three school boards. The process took four months.
Christopher J. Rooney, former Superintendent of Atlantic Highlands
Elementary School District was hired after the comprehensive search by this Tri-district committee. The superintendent position is one of a growing number of positions shared
among Atlantic Highlands, Highlands and Henry Hudson Regional School Districts. The other shared positions are the supervisor of curriculum and instruction, the supervisor of special services, the substance abuse coordinator, a world language teacher, a Basic Skills teacher, a technology teacher/facilitator and some child study team members.
