Historical Association Looking for Edelstein Portraits

1130
The Monmouth County Historical Association is organizing an exhibition showcasing the work of renowned photographer Monroe Edelstein and encouraging members of the community to participate.
From 1960 to 1990 Edelstein was one of the premiere portrait photographers of the New York metropolitan area. He was a master at capturing a moment in time – both of his sub- jects and of the era in which they were being photographed.
Local families who may have Edelstein portraits hanging in their homes are invited to loan their art for this special event being mounted in September 2015 at the association’s historic Taylor-Butler House at 127 Kings Hwy. in Middletown.
The public will be invited to see an incredible body of work that will highlight this important artist as well as an interesting era in Monmouth County.
Assisting with the exhibition is Edelstein’s daughter, Councilwoman Aimee Humphreys of Fair Haven, who has retained an extensive archive of her father’s work. Owners of Edelstein portraits who are interested in sharing their art for the exhibition can contact Association Director Evelyn Murphy by email emurphy@monmouthhistory.org or phone 732-462-1466, ext. 10.
