HOLMDEL – Google has selected Caren MacConnell as an attendee at the next Google Teacher Academy on July 30-31, to be held in Mountain View, Calif.
The Google Teacher Academy is a two-day intensive program that recognizes educators who are doing innovative and exciting things in their classrooms with technology. MacConnell was honored to be selected and represent Holmdel Township School District.
Thirty-five participants will get hands-on experience with Google’s products and technologies, learn about innovative instructional strategies, and receive resources to share with colleagues. Upon completion, academy participants become Google Certified Teachers who share what they learn with other educators in their local regions and beyond.
A longtime Holmdel teacher and graduate, MacConnell now serves the district as its technology coach, working closely with teachers on ways to seamlessly infuse technology into the curriculum.
“We are so pleased that Caren’s expertise and exceptional leadership in this area has earned her this international recognition and opportunity,” Superintendent Barbara Duncan said.
“I am so honored and excited for this amazing opportunity to connect and learn from such innovative educators and technology leaders,” MacConnell said. “Going to Mountain View is wonderful, but the part I am most excited about is the cohort of teachers and Google representatives that I will be working with not only this summer but in the future. I cannot wait to bring back what I learn to share with the staff, students and the Holmdel community.”
