WEST LONG BRANCH – Shore Players, Shore Regional High School’s theater program, will present “Sweet Charity” during two weekends in March at the 132 Monmouth Park Highway school.
A sneak performance for senior citizens will be held on Wednesday, March 13.
Adapted from “Nights of Cabiria,” a film by Federico Fellini, “Sweet Charity” tells the story of an optimistic young woman, Charity, who not only wears her heart on her sleeve, she’s had it tattooed to her arm.
Performances will be 8 p.m. are Fridays and Saturdays, March 14-15 and March 21-22 and 2 p.m. Sundays March 16 and 23. A special preview performance for senior citizens will be offered at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 13.
Advance tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for students and seniors. All tickets at the door are $15.

“Sweet Charity,” a comedy by author Neil Simon, includes famous musical numbers like “Big Spender,” and “If My Friends Could See Me Now.” The original Broadway production was nominated for 12 Tony Awards, and was directed and choreographed by Bob Fosse.
Leading the Shore Players cast is Julianna Bristol as Charity. Other familiar faces include Hannah Stone (Nickie), Emily Mitro (Helene), Luke Sweeney (Vittorio Vidale), Jake Cameron (Oscar Lindquist) and Taylor Lopez (Ursula March).
Director Todd Aikens, a Shore Players alum, is enjoying his fourth season of leadership with Shore Players. Rounding out the production staff of “Sweet Charity” are producer Randee Skloff, musical director Marcy Manfredi, assistant director Lindsay Wood, and choreographer Tara Eccles.
