MATAWAN – Know someone looking for a job? A fast-growing local technology company is seeking to hire 150 more people in 2015.
On Thursday, Feb. 19, privately owned iCIMS will interview candidates for positions like director of sales, manager of technical support and principal software developer at its Matawan headquarters, located off Garden State Parkway Exit 120. The company innovates cloud-based software services that help human resource departments attract potential candidates, filter through resumes and onboard workers.
“We see this tremendous opportunity,” said CEO and Founding Partner Colin Day, 39, of Middletown, who says that US corporations spend $120 billion to solve recruitment and talent acquisition issues, and $22 billion in technology and services. “We double every three years, so we anticipate we’ll be about 1,000 employees in three years,” Day said.

In the current tough economy, iCIMS [pronounced ‘eye-Sims’] is booming. It boasts an $80 million recurring run rate, and says its year over year revenue increased by 35 percent in 2014. The company achieves 97 percent recurring revenue by leasing its talent acquisition to companies like Comcast, Greenpeace and Sysco. It also provides recruitment marketing services.
An example of a recruiting tool they offer is called iCIMS Social Distribution, which uses participating employees’ accounts on Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn to slowly push out jobs to social networks, maximizing a firm’s chance of a great hire.
On Tuesday morning, iCIMS employees, mostly in their late 20s, were working quietly in cubicles, sprawled through three red-and-black themed floors in the tan high-rise building at 90 Matawan Road, with wraparound views of Raritan Bay, the Parkway, local strip malls and water towers that peep above tree lines. Some of the furniture was so new that labels still dangled from the backs.
To accommodate the anticipated 35 percent increase in staff next year, Day said the company is weighing the options of expanding into the building next door, building a new central campus on the other side of the Parkway in Aberdeen, building a second campus in MetroPark in Edison or out of state, or taking space in the future redevelopment of the former Bell Labs complex in Holmdel. But making any move would have to be worth the cost of breaking the building lease they’ve committed to through 2023.
“I think it’s been a priority for us to become a leading employer within the state of New Jersey,” said COO Adam Feigenbaum of Marlboro. “We’re trying to grow here. There’s a lot of great talent here. Just speaking for myself, growing up in this area, there’s that big draw of the city, and its nice to give people an alternative, someone closer to home where they can start their careers.”
Gerrie Diaz, 30, of Lincroft is one of them. Upon graduating from Rowan University with a degree in business administration, he applied to iCIMS because he wanted to stay near family. Today he leads the product design and user interface team. He appreciates the no-cost health insurance plan and the newly implemented 401K match, and would snap at the opportunity to buy stock in iCIMS if offered. “Because I believe in the company; I see where the company is going,” said Diaz.
Steve Loori, 28 of Red Bank, a former Mater Dei Prep high school computer teacher, joined iCIMS last June as a training coordinator, and now educates clients through webinar classes and onsite 2-day workshops for customers.
Applying to work at iCIMS had been on his radar for a long time, he said. “My sister-in-law works here, and I used to work at Best Buy, where there are a ton of people here that worked at Best Buy with me,” he said. He said he loves his new job for the better salary, the professional collaboration with colleagues, and Bagel Fridays.
In the past six months, the job has allowed him to move out of his parents home and into a Red Bank high rise with his girlfriend, buy a car and get a puppy. “It’s been a wild couple of months for me,” he said. “There’s not really too many software companies around I can commute to in 20 minutes, from Red Bank.”
The career fair will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 19 at iCIMS Corporate Headquarters, 90 Matawan Road, Parkway 120 building, Matawan, NJ 07747. Job seekers will be able to speak to department representatives and tour the facilities. For a list of job openings and to register, visit www2.icims.com/FebCareerFair
