Lester Johnson, 87, a life- long resident of Sea Bright, died Friday, June 19 at Care One at King James in Middletown. He was valedic- torian of the 1946 class at Long Branch High School. Mr. Johnson had worked as a stock manager for the Acme Corporation in Fair Haven and Lincroft, retiring in 2004, and also at Gardella’s in Sea Bright. He was active in both the Sea Bright First Aid and Fire Department for 67 years. Lester was an avid collector of all things associated with trains and railways, and he was an astute follower of the stock market. Mr. Johnson was a veteran of the United States Army, serv-ing during the Korean War. He was predeceased by his parents, Lester and Marion Johnson; his grandparents, Stephen and Elizabeth Johnson; a sister, Jackie Timmons; and by his aunt and uncle, Alice and Jack Weir. Surviving are his brother, Kenneth “Tom” Johnson and his wife Lize; a sister, Barbara Waters and her husband John; his nieces, Sharon, Nancy, Terri, Khristi and Leslie; his nephews, Jay, Tom, Robert, Thomas and Kenny; and his dear friends and caregivers, David Estelle, Lynette Bobak and Pete Perrine. Visitation and a fireman’s service was held on Monday, June 21 at the Flock Funeral Home, Long Branch. Interment followed at Woodbine Cemetery, Oceanport. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Sea Bright First Aid are appreciated.
