Mary Eager Johnson, 99, of Oceanport, died at home on Sunday, November 13. Mrs. Johnson was born on October 29, 1917 in Long Branch to Phillip J. Eager and Elizabeth McCue Eager. She attended Star of the Sea School, Long Branch, and Georgian Court University, Lakewood.
She was a lifelong resident of Monmouth Beach until Super Storm Sandy when she moved to Oceanport. Mary was an avid walker of the Long Branch boardwalk, swimmer and shopper.
Mrs. Johnson was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Sidney B. Johnson; her sisters, Patricia Eager and Madeline Nies; and her son-in-law, Richard Heimbuch. She is survived by her five children: Lynn Johnson of Monmouth Beach, Mary Ann Heimbuch of Oceanport, Madeline Stein and her husband, Isaac, of California, Sidney B. Johnson Jr and his wife, Loretta, of Oceanport and Vivian Johnson Ridard and her husband, Michael, of Minnesota. She is also survived by her eight grandchildren, Richard Heimbuch, Josh and Sarah Stein, Sidney B. Johnson III, Katie Johnson, Patricia and Paul Johnson and Emma Johnson Ridard; four great- grandchildren; and her brother, Philip J. Eager and his wife Kate of Oceanport. Mrs. Johnson’s children would like to acknowledge and thank their mother’s long-term caregiver, Mrs. Theresa Ziobro.
