MONMOUTH BEACH – The fifth annual Monmouth Beach Scarecrow Festival, sponsored by the Monmouth Beach Beautification Committee,  will be held this year on Saturday, Oct. 22, between 2 and 4 p.m. at Borough Hall.
The scarecrows will begin popping up around town in mid-October and a map showing the locations of each one will be available at Borough Hall beginning on Oct. 21. The winners of the scarecrow contest in several categories will be announced at the festival around 3 p.m.
A pie and cupcake contest with some of the yummiest creations will accompany the festival. The entries will be sold to the public after the judging.
The winners of these contests will also be announced during the festival, along with the winners of the scarecrow competition.
In addition, James Caverly, founder and roastmaster of the Booskerdoo coffee shop, winner of this year’s Business Award presented annually by the Monmouth Beach Beautification Committee, will be introduced to festival-goers.
Booskerdoo fresh roasted coffee company in Village Square was judged to be the best maintained and most attractive business property in town for 2011.
Come join the fun at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 22, at the Monmouth Beach Borough Hall.
